Brewery –          Moorhouse’s

Beer –                 Premier

Alcohol –          3.7%

Origin –             Burnley, Lancashire

Style –               Bitter

Season –         Autumn

Surprisingly light colouring for a bitter, it’s golden amber hue and more lively head give it the appearance of a golden ale.

Bitter on the nose, it has quite a tang to it, but it’s light and airy.

A solid bitter backbone yet it has a smooth mouthfeel, and is rounded off by a hoppy lasting finish.

At 3.7% it certainly fits into the session ale category. Refreshing, Thirst Quenching and reliable.

Wye Valley – HPA

Brewery –          Wye Valley

Beer –                 HPA

Alcohol –          4.0%

Origin –             Stoke Lacy, Herefordshire

Style –               IPA

Season –          Spring / Summer

Suprisingly cloudy to boot, I have never tried such an easy drinking ale. Smooth refreshing, zesty, with orangey notes toward the end.

Not particularly complex, which may put off the connoisseur, but I would suggest this to be the diffinative session ale… A blonde mild???

Brakspear Bitter

Brewery –          Brakspear

Beer –                 ‘Double Dropped’ Bitter

Alcohol –            3.4%

Origin –              Oxfordshire, England

Style –                Classic Bitter

Season –            Autumn / Winter

Brakspear Bitter is a classic bitter with a dark amber colouring and a creamy off white head.

3.4% Vol make it a quaffable session ale, but it has a lot of complexity for its low strenght.

Fruity and floral on the nose, it has a hoppy underlying quality, that leads to a long and bitter finish.

I’m a big fan of this bitter.
